Sometimes, it seems like roleplaying games speak a language of their own. Many terms have come into common usage over the years. To help avoid confusion, we'll list the most often-used ones here.
RP: Roleplay - what we all do when we're not ourselves!
IC: In-Character - posting, thinking, and acting as someone other than yourself.
OOC: Out Of Character - who you are when you're not your character.
NPC: Non-Player Character - a character played by staff, often used to supplement or move a story along.
APC: Active Player Character - a character played by an individual player.
ICA=ICC: In-Character Actions equal In-Character Consequences - just what it sounds like! The things you do in-character will have consequences, from slapping a Klingon to telling an Admiral that they're boring you...
Char: Character.
Alt: Alternate character.
